Wild in Your Forties

You hit your forties and something in you snaps — not broken, but open, like a gate you didn’t realise you’d locked years ago.

You start choosing boots over expectations, mountains over mirrors, and the kind of joy that doesn’t care if your hair looks feral or your leggings are muddy.

You walk into the wild and the wild walks into you — soft at first, like moss underfoot, then louder, like wind that knows your name.

You stop apologising for taking up space, for wanting adventure, for craving silence that isn’t really silence but birds, and breath, and your heartbeat finally sounding like your own.

You climb, not to prove anything, but because your legs feel like they remember a life you haven’t lived yet.

You laugh, not politely, but loudly, the way the hills want you to.

And somewhere between the summit and the sky, you realise:

Going wild in your forties isn’t losing control — it’s finding it. It’s becoming the woman you were always meant to be — mud‑streaked, wind‑kissed, gloriously unbothered, and beautifully alive.
